In just a few hrs. I will be off to Arizona. Among our stops will be the Grand Canyon. I cant wait. I don't remember ever seeing it as a kid. I'm just as excited as the kids are! lol. I hope to take some good pics and will share when I get home. Have a safe and wonderful 4th.
I made this file folder ( among other items), for a silent auction that will be held at hubby's family reunion over the 4th of July. This project went rater quickly and was quite fun, so I thought I'd share.
Make sure you have LOTS of glue sticks for the glue gun. I thought Mode Podge would do the trick, but quickly resorted to the gun. Measure front, back and bottom of the file folder. Cut cardboard to the appropriate size. Cut fabric and cover the cardboard. My file folder had a flap, which I cut off. Glue the fabric covered cardboard to the file folder, leaving a pinch of room to tuck in your ties. Cover raw edges on the sides with a trim or lace , (see side view). Glue a coordinating mix of ribbons on the top edge of each divider of folder. continue to adorn any way you wish. I added a few vintage button paper clips, and crystals to my tie.
This is a custom design made for my friend Stacey . She wanted the "Relax" charm and had a few ideas of exactly what she wanted. We tweaked them a bit and as usual, right in the middle of the design, I mix it up a bit more! lol, sometimes you just have to work through the design and it just seems to develop itself! I hope she likes it!
Thursday was the last day of school for my kids! YES, no more making lunches before my eyes are even open, no more waiting for the copy machine in the work room, no more rushing to get out the door by 8:15, just sleeping in and NO more schedule! LOVE it. A girlfriend of mine had a "Kick of to Summer Swim Party" on the last day of school and had quite a good turnout of us " Home Room" moms..LOL. Another gal pal ( at the pool party), gifted me with this gorgeous bottle of pink lemonade from Trader Joe's. What a perfect way to celebrate the beginning of Summer. I got out the "Special Glasses" put a nice crust of sugar around the rim, and the kids and I enjoyed the sweet and tangy bubbly!
Wanting to save some for another day of indulgence, I went searching for the cap......when I had a spark of genius!!! Such a special treat, needs a special cap, lid, cork thingy!.. so off I to make a "Pretty". Hubby called about that time and said we have an invitation to the Boss's house for dinner Saturday night. Well now....it just so happens I have the perfect "Summer Hostess gift". Thanks for sparking my creativity Lourdes and the yummy lemonade.
YES, these will make an appearance in my Etsy store soon!
I have been a very busy little bee! I put all of this in my Etsy store!! Well all but one, which is on e-bay. I'm going to work on a few different projects now,.....picture frames, which my rhinestones will make an appearance on, and a little sewing project. I hope to share soon!
Day 2 ( Sunday) the plans were to go to the flea market and then to "tea" ..........so I'm thinking to myself, only a couple hours at the flea market? thats like taking a kid into a candy store and only only letting him, buy a bubblegum out of the machine!!! lol, clearly my friends have NO idea what a vintage obsessed freak I truly am. I broke the news to them gently that I was not going to join them for tea, but rather continue on in the hot sun, dragging my full cart around an asphalt parking lot, in search of more finds. They were very polite, and went on with out me. LOL
I picked up some really great bottles, I'm working on them now, some have a hint of purple in the glass and others have a slight blue tint. They are gorgeous! I'll show you when they are done!
I just had the most fun weekend. I spent it with some of the girls who make up The most incredibly talented children's Boutique designers on E-bay. We collectively sell under the name of "LillyPlum" I have been privileged to be a part of this group for quite a few years now. We have chatted daily, shared our dreams and disappointments, our hopes and desires, but had never actually met in person. Of course I felt like I knew them all ready, but spending an entire weekend with them was too much fun. We stayed in Pasadena and filled the days with shopping, eating, and lots of giggling. Sat. afternoon we headed for Beverly Hills to hang out until lunchtime. Far be it from us to just go with the norm, we had to have desert before lunch!!! at this ever so trendy joint. YUMMY! they even had mixes to make at home.
Paradise Cove in Malibu is where we had lunch. We were just a tad late for our reservation, so we frolic-ed on the beach and took pictures on the pier.....Ahh..I could take a lot of this.
Come back tomorrow and see the fun that was to be had on Sunday!!!
I just put the finishing touches on my first ever Journal, well I'm hesitant to call it a journal because I don't really journal, never have and at this point probably wont ever. I'm calling it a Home Planner...I don't know about you, but when I stumble upon a find that I think, " wow, that would look great in the living room", or "hey, that matches the fabric in the dinning room", I always second guess myself and wind up with nothing because I'm too afraid to make a huge mistake! lol. Please tell me I'm not alone in my paranoia!!! Here is how I've adapted the "Journal" to my needs...
First page...A picture of my area most in need. The Living room wall. Its huge. I got this giant pretty mirror from Ballard Designs. I'm thinking transfer ware plates around it. Red, or Brown??? I've also attached fabric swatches to the page in case I need to match something to a "T".
Another page, more fabric swatches...
Pockets and pretty button paper clips keep it from becoming too messy. I have a feeling this wont be my last journal...I mean planner! lol.
Yikes! O. K., so it was not the best hair day! lol, but wow, what fun !!! I drove out to the coolest place today for a little vintage shopping. I'd read all about it on Sherry's blog. Ever since I ran across her blog I have followed it faithfully. I love her style and color pallet. Very muted, romantic, and Prairie chic, rustic but elegant. LOVE IT. So when I read she was having a barn sale, I marked it on the calender. I'll be a regular. She is doing this every month. Yea!!! We could of chatted for hours, but she was busy setting things up, and I had a husband and two kids wondering around somewhere! lol. I restrained myself and didn't spend too much, ( saving for another excursion next weekend). You'll hear all about it later in a few days.
Sherry's little spot!
Wanted this cabinet to hang over my new desk ( a project almost finished).
This was outback...check out the darling laundry basket. Oh and it was not until I was editing pictures that I noticed the cute little sink on the yellow potting bench. I must check that out on my next visit. Thanks Sherry!
