Anyone still out there??? lol. It was a crazy Holiday season. More like a whirl wind. I started off trying to fit it all in, working, new designs, blogging, baking, outings with the kids, etc, etc, I soon came to realize I had to cut back on the to-do list. WAY BACK. At any rate, the kids are back in school and I have some quiet time again. Aahhh....... This picture has everything to do with my priorities, and what is most important in my life. Thanks for all the nice notes while I was enjoying time with my family. Lots of new fun things going on here at J2J. Once they are all officially underway I'll share.
Here is what I ended up with this year for the dreaded Christmas picture. Its the same story every year. Them being beyond silly and me getting frustrated and threatening! lol I guess I was in a silly mood too, because the goofier they acted the more I snapped, and instead of searching for that "one special picture", I decided to use the goofy ones too! After all THIS is really who my kids are. I rather like like it, no I rather LOVE it!! I usually design an elaborate graphic card, but this year I'm busier than ever before with my wholesale accounts. I used this site to help me out this year. I was welcomed home from our Thanksgiving getaway with requests for 2 new wholesale accounts. I've been busy trying to gather up images, writing descriptions, and making samples for them.! My studio ( garage ) looks like grandmas jewelry box exploded. LOL. I'm beginning to see the light at the end of the tunnel, and I have a few Christmas posts I want to share. Thanks to all of you who emailed me personally to make sure I was O.K. ( having not posted in a few weeks ). It's comforting to know you care! XOX
I finally got her to sit still long enough to snap a few pictures today! I think this captures her quite well. Blue toenails, black leggings with lace trim, a white tutu ( tutorial to come ), and a hot pink Ipod. I think she'd say it was a perfect Saturday!
This is what it looks like in Carlsbad California right now. I had booked camping reservations months ago for this weekend and would have been packing up the motor home right now to leave after the kids get out of school today. As the news of the fires worsened day after day and the devastations of lost homes tore at our hearts, it seemed very inappropriate, cold, and insensitive to roll into town and enjoy ourselves at the beach while the rest of the county was burning. Hubby and I just didn't feel right about it at all. We decided to call and cancel our reservations, when doing so we learned that the freeway that runs parallel to the beach was closed as was the entire state campground where we were staying. The air in Southern California makes it quite hard to breath. My kids have not been out for recess all week because of poor air quality. I learned yesterday that Morgans teacher would find out when she went home if she and her family would be evacuated! Please pray for us in Southern California, obviously for those who have lost everything, but also for those of us who haven't, that we would know just what we might do to help.
I have had my eye on a few goodies at the camera store for quite a while, and this weekend they have a new home in my camera bag!!! Of course I couldn't wait to play....here are just a few.
My kids came home last week with the notice for school pictures. I'm sorry to be such a picture snob, but I hate school pictures. I don't have even one of the giant 8 X 10's hanging on my wall. I know that its un Americian like not to purchase them, after all, Grandma's and Grandpa's do love them and proudly display them. I'll just get the smallest package as usual. While I was editing these pictures I had a great idea. I will make a storyboard picture for each of the kids and print up a bunch to hand out ! Ahh....I like this idea so much more. Its more "T hem", What do ya think?
In less than an hour I'll be waking the kids for their first day of 2nd and 3rd grade. Yikes! how did that happen? We have had a great time together this Summer and I want the fun to continue. Along with a handwritten little note on their napkin, I will tuck in these little surprises into their lunch boxes. Every year Morgan and her girlfriends collect all sorts of key chains and attach them to their backpacks, so I'm including a "M" key chain I made for her, lip gloss and some skittles. for Robbie....some Burt's Bees lip balm, its "Lifeguard's Choice" as since he has perfected his skim boarding technique this year to near perfection, I thought this brand only appropriate, a tiny silver Porsche, and some Rollo's. I hope this tradition of tucking small surprises in their lunches is one that brings a smile and is remembered for many years.
I cant believe my Sissy girl ( thats what we call her half the time), is going to be 7 at the end of the month. I'm busy planning her party, what fun. We are having a swim and scrapbook party!!! I bought paper bag albums from Ebay. I should have made them but did not have the time. Here are some instructions if you want to check it out. I plan on making a sample for the girls just to give ideas. I'm totally inspired by these little books because of this majorly talented girl. I will hang Paper lanterns from the eves of the patio, and serve lunch in pink donut boxes. I'm on the hunt now for a cupcake stand! Any suggestions? The BIG moment will come when she sees her new bike. We tried to get her the matching one to mine. ( the one in the above collage), but they discontinued the kids size. Rats!!! wouldn't of that been too stinkin cute? I'm sure she will LoVe.... the blue one. Have a Wonderful Weekend!!
I thought I'd share a little bit of what is keeping me from getting much design work done the past few weeks. My in-laws will be celebrating 50yrs. of marriage on Sunday!!! Wow. We are planning them a huge surprise party in a gorgeous park setting in town. I was in charge of designing the invitation ( you may have seen the artwork on my flicker page), and the floral centerpieces were also assigned to me.
Fill the vases with lemons or limes? Vintage tablecloth or gingham ? Casual or more designed flower look?
Will Morgan like the dress? Will it fit? Does it match well enough? Will the shoes I'm thinking of match?
Not so many doubts about the shirt! Whew... I love it, I'm sure it will fit and I don't have to worry about matching shoes, Rob wears anything I lay out for him. I love little boys! LOL, But will it look OK with Morgan's dress??? I'm always stressed about the little details. I'm sure it will all work together beautifully! Wish us good weather on Sunday!
